From the roof line, this house appears to be one of a pair with No. 26, which was at some point converted to a single house intertwined with no 22. This is the smaller of the two properties and timber-framed, as is no 26, whose roof it shares.
Before 1813 it belonged to Thomas Green and William Bayley the younger.
By 1813 -1854, Mary and John Holmartin are in residence. Followed by:
in 1855 – 1865, Thomas Pearce (Mariner)
1865 – 1889, Louisa Pearce with Robert Arnell Smith
and 1889 – 1897, Robert Arnell Smith (Master mariner)
From 1901 it appears to have stopped being used as a property for let and was lived in by the then owner.
